Soumya Sarkar became the fastest Bangladeshi batter to reach the milestone of 2000 runs in ODIs.
The left-handed batter made this milestone during the second ODI against Sri Lanka at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Friday.
Surpassing the milestone in just his 64th ODI innings, Sarkar eclipsed the previous record held by Shahriar Nafees, who achieved the feat in 65 innings.
Adding to the list, cricket stalwarts Shakib Al Hasan and Imrul Kayes accomplished the milestone in 69 innings, while Tamim Iqbal, another key figure in Bangladesh cricket, reached the mark in 70 innings.
Soumya has 12 fifties and three centuries in this format for Bangladesh.
