Every moment of Ramadan is precious

The Holy month of Ramadan is a month of self-purification from sins. No one is more unfortunate than the person who fails to seek mercy for their misdeeds during this blessed month.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "Shame on the one whose sins are not forgiven in the month of Ramadan." Therefore, Mumin (faithful Muslims) should make the most of every moment during this holy month.

Mumin should prioritise acts of worship such as engaging in zikr (recital of the praise and names of Allah) and istighfar (seeking forgiveness from Allah) at a higher rate, in addition to prayers and recitation of the Holy Quran.

This is because the remembrance of Allah offers a chance to absolve oneself of sins.

In Surah Al-Ahzab (Ayat: 35), Allah emphasises that both men and women who possess qualities such as faith, obedience, truthfulness, patience, humility, charity, fasting, guarding their chastity, and remembering Allah will be rewarded with forgiveness and a great reward.

Zikir is a form of worship which does not cause any difficulty, but through it one can achieve infinite benefits in this world and the hereafter.

It has been stated from Jabir (RA), the Prophet (PBUH) said, a palm tree is planted in the paradise for a person who says 'Subhanallahil Azeem Wabihamdihi' (I praise and glorify Allah the Exalted).

(Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3465)

Subhanallah. A hadith of the Prophet (PBUH) gives some idea of how wide the tree of paradise can be.

It has been narrated from Anas (RA), Prophet (PBUH) said, “There is a tree in Paradise under whose shade no rider can cross it even if he continues for a hundred years.” (Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3293)

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, on May 14, 2008, a horse named Brew set a record of 43.97 miles per hour at Penn National Race Course in the United States. If a horseman with just such a horse could travel at the same speed without stopping, how many days would it take him to travel from one end of the world to the other? Let us try to figure that out first.

According to the Space.com, earth's equatorial circumference is 24,901 miles (40,075 km). If we divide 24,901 miles by 43.97 miles, the result is 566.31.

That means, if a horse like Brew, the fastest horse of the universe, ran at its top speed without stoppage, it would take him 566.31 hours or 23.59 days to go from one end of the world to the other.

It can be stated that about 24 days, which is not even equal to a full month. So if a fast horse like Brew could run at the same speed for 100 years in a row, how many miles would he cover?

For this, first we need to calculate a day. If a horse as fast as Brew can travel 43.97 miles per hour, then if Allah gave him the strength to run at the same speed for 24 hours without stopping, he would be able to travel 1055.28 miles in 24 hours, which is 385,177.2 miles in a year. Then in 100 years such a horse could travel 3 crore 85 lakh 17 thousand 720 miles.

Subhanallah, it has been stated in the hadith that any horse rider cannot cross the shadow of the tree if he continues riding 100 years. So it is impossible to assume the size of the tree that how big it is. Only one tree of paradise is so big, then how big that paradise is!

And how magnificent is the Almighty who has prepared countless paradises for those who possess such noble qualities! Allahu Akbar!

Almighty Allah is giving such a huge reward for just one to two seconds of good deed.

This is the virtue outside of Ramadan, this reward will be increased many times more in Ramadan.

It is mentioned in Hadith Sharif, narrated by Abu Huraira (RA), Rasulullah (SAW) said By the One in Whose hand is my life, surely the smell of a fasting person's mouth is better than the smell of dead leaves in the sight of Allah; undoubtedly the fasting person gives up his appetite and food for Me. So the fast is mine and I will reward it. The reward for every good deed is from 10 to 700, and fasting is for me, I will reward it.

(Muatta Malek: 674)

That means the virtues of zikir in Ramadan also increase manifold. In a few seconds people can get countless rewards. So, we should value every second of Ramadan.

May Allah Almighty grant us Tawfik (the ability or opportunity to achieve success) to achieve the full virtues of Ramadan. Ameen.
