LGBTQ identification among US adults increases to 7.6%

The percentage of US adults identifying as LGBTQ has increased to 7.6%, according to a Gallup polls released Wednesday.
This marks an increase of two percentage points from two years ago and an increase of 4.1 percentage points since Gallup began its polls in 2012.
Gallup found that LGBTQ+ identification was highest among Generation Z (22.3%) and millennials (9.8%), with each generation about twice as likely to identify as LGBTQ+ than the preceding one.
In contrast, only 2.3% of baby boomers and 1.1% of those born 1945 or earlier identified as LGBTQ+.
Gallup found that bisexuality was most common, with 57.3% of LGBTQ+ adults and 4.4% of American adults overall identifying as bisexual.
