UP member injured by firing from Myanmar

A Union Parishad (UP) member was injured by a bullet fired from trouble-hit Myanmar along the border area under Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban on Monday afternoon.

The injured, Saber Ahmed, is a member of Ward-9 of Sadar Union Parishad.

Sadar UP Chairman Nurul Absar Emon said Saber was talking with local people near the Jamchhari border area around 4pm when a bullet from the Myanmar side hit his waist.

He was rushed to Cox’s Bazar General Hospital immediately, said the chairman.

Earlier in the day, 29 members of the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) entered Bangladesh and took refuge amid a conflict between the Myanmar military and the armed rebel group in Rakhine state.
