Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said the government will build a second nuclear power plant in Pabna’s Rooppur after completing the construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant there. 

"I have asked the science and technology minister to start the second one soon after accomplishing the first one and we have to take preparation for that from now on," she said, reports BSS.

Sheikh Hasina was speaking at an event held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka. 

She said her government tried to build the second nuclear power plant in the country’s southern region, but the soil is not strong enough to set up such a power plant there.
