Ajax Sporting Club made a winning start in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League 2023-24 after beating Shadharan Bima Corporation SC by 2-1 goals in their first match at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday.

Ajax’s Indian recruit Silhaiba Lisam took a lead in the 6th minute but Shadharan Bima’s Indian recruit Ashu equalised the margin in the 11th minute. Ajax’s Rakibul Hasan broke the deadlock and scored the match winner in the 39th minute. 

In another match, Police SC beat Dilkusha SC by 2-1 goals at the same venue.

Police's Indian recruit Gurjit Singh scored a brace in the 11th and 20th minutes while Dilkusha's Parvej reduced the gap in the 54th minute.
