The inaugural Turaag Active Dhaka 25K 2024, a prestigious running event organised by Run Bangladesh, was held in the capital on Friday.
The international certified run competition began at 5am at Hatirjheel and a total of 2,000 runners from 15 countries participated in the 25K, 10.3K, and 3K categories.
Imran Hasan became champion in the 25km category, and Ashraful Alam and Arman Numusin became first and second runner-up respectively.
In the female 25km category, Shawlin Sigma became champion, while Sarwat Parveen and Eri Lee Koike secured the next two spots respectively.
Golam Rahat became champion in the 10.3km category, while in the female 10.3km category, Samia ruled the roost.
In the kids (male) 3km category, Yash Rooman became champion, while Zarif Taj and Al Farazi Haque became first and second runner-up respectively. In the female category, Rawasiya Rooman became champion while Amara Maheen and Ariya Nur Binte secured the next two spots respectively.
Through this event, Dhaka's rich cultural heritage is showcased, awareness is raised for the citizens' healthy lifestyle, and efforts are made to strengthen the emotional bonds among participants of the running community.
The Dhaka 25K Run event has received the AIMS membership, which certifies and approves marathon events worldwide.
Run Bangladesh co-founder and Managing Director Saznan Mohammad said, "The Turaag Active Dhaka 25K Run 2024 is not just a running event; it's an effort to showcase Dhaka's rich cultural heritage. We are thrilled to showcase the beauty of our city to a global audience by encouraging people to lead healthier and more active lifestyles."
The international run competition concluded with a closing ceremony around 8:30am.
