Drama Birotihin Nari
Every year on 8 March, the International Women’s Day is celebrated. The country’s cultural arena will also observe the day through different programmes this year too.
Television channels will air special programmes, including discussions, airing dramas and celebrity adda. Different cultural organisations have also arranged various events, to mark the day. Here’s a highlight of the programmes.
Boishakhi Television will telecast the single-episode drama “Birotihin Nari” at 12.45pm. Nadia Ahmed, Maznun Mizan, Sheli Ahsan, Piya and others have acted in the play. The Women’s Day special episode of “Boishakhi Folk Show” will be aired at 8:30pm. Khairul Wasi and Munia Moon will perform in the show.
Deepto TV will air a special discussion “Unnoyone Nar” at 4:00pm. The web film “Criminals”, starring Tanzika Amin, Rukaiya Jahan Chamak and Neel Hurerzahan, will be released on the OTT platform Deepto Play. Directed by Farhad Ahmed, the film also stars Abu Hurayra Tanvir, Irfan Sajjad, Shahriar Rana, and others.
Banglavision will broadcast special programme “Jago Nari Jago” at 6:30pm. Educationist and social activist Rasheda K. Choudhury and professor Dr. Rasheda Rawnak Khan will be present as guests in the programme.
There will also be special stage shows in the country’s theatre scene. Theatre troupe “Prangone Mor” will premiere their new play “Abhineta” at the Experimental Theater Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala.
“Swapnadal” will stage their much-appreciated play “Chitrangada” at the Studio Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy. Written by Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore and directed by Zahid Repon, the cast of the play are Sonali, Juena, Shishir, Shamol, Arko, Jebu and others.
The troupe will also honour actress, playwright, and director Hridi Huq with the “International Women’s Day Award 2024” through a ceremony before staging the play.
