‘Rickshaw Girl’ screened at Japan’s Film Festival

Amitabh Reza Chowdhury-directed film “Rickshaw Girl” has been screened at the prestigious Osaka Asian Film Festival in Japan.
More than 300 audience enjoyed the film at Osaka’s Cine Libre Umeda Hall on 1 March, on the first day of the festival.
The festival, which will be running till 10 March, is showcasing the best films of the Asian continent at different venues including ABC Hall, Cine Libre Umeda, T-Joy Umeda and the Nakanoshima Museum of Art.
Amitabh Reza Chowdhury shared the news with a post on his Facebook page on Saturday. “The first-day screening of our film has been concluded. I have never seen such diligent and respectful audiences in my life. Over 300 audiences have enjoyed the film”, the post reads.
Another screening of the film will be held on 10 March, on the concluding day of the festival.
Jointly written by Naseef Faruque Amin and Sharbari Zohra Ahmed, the story of ‘Rickshaw Girl’ revolves around Naima, a painter of traditional motifs, and her struggles. It is based on Mitali Perkins’ 2007 best-selling novel Rickshaw Girl, which was chosen by New York Public Library as one of the 100 best children’s books of the past 100 years.
Bangladesh-born American writer Sharbari Z Ahmed, who has earned plaudits as a screenwriter working for ABC’s TV show ‘Quantico,’ has written the screenplay for the film.
Actor Novera Rahman will be seen acting as Naima in the film.
The other cast of the film includes Champa, Momena Chowdhury, Siam Ahmed, Allen Shubhro, Naresh Bhuiyan, Nasiruddin Khan, Rupkatha, Ashok Bepari and others.
