President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Ashraf Ahmed expresses deep shock and sorrow over the unexpected fire incident at the Bailey Road occurred on 29 February, 2024.

He also condoles the death and prayed to the Almighty for the salvation of the departed souls and expressed deep compassion to the bereaved families.

He also thanked the government for taking immediate measures to ensure treatment for the injured.

DCCI President Ashraf Ahmed said, "We all should abide by the building codes along with fire exit, fire safety manuals and other modern fire extinguishing requirements. Concerned Government agencies also need to be strict while monitoring these issues across the country so that we can avoid such catastrophe in future."

Ashraf Ahmed also thinks that the high-rise buildings have to have required fire extinguishing mechanism, adequate exit facility and regular fire drills in order to save valuable lives. Also the Fire Service and Civil Defense department may take month-long massive awareness creation campaign across the country at a regular basis.
