Bailey Road Fire: 38 bodies identified, 23 handed over to relatives

At least 38 people, out of 44 who were killed in last night's Bailey Road fire, have been identified. The bodies of those who died in the Bailey Road fire incident have been handed over to their relatives. The hand over process started at around 5:40am on Friday.
Twenty-three bodies were handed over to their respective family members from Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery till 8:00am today, Mostafa Abdullah Al Noor, (Nezarat) Deputy Collector (NDC) in Dhaka, said.
Earlier on Thursday night, Dhaka District Administration sought information from the relatives of the deceased to hand over the bodies. After the identification of the bodies through legal procedure, the hand over process of the bodies started.
At least 44 people were killed and dozens injured in the fire that razed through Green Cozy Cottage Shopping Mall in the capital last night.
Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen, confirmed the figure to reporters early Friday. He said 33 dead at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, 10 at Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute and one at Central Police Hospital.
The death toll from the blazing inferno kept climbing through the night, and is likely to rise further.
