SUST teachers demand judicial probe into attack on colleagues

Rejecting the committee formed by the SUST Vice-chancellor over the BCL attack on their colleagues, a section of pro-liberation teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on Sunday demanded judicial investigation into the incident.

The teacher’s forum alleged that the BCL men attacked their scheduled sit-in programme on August 30 at the directive of the SUST VC, said a press release signed by convener of ‘Mohan Muktijuddher Chetonay Udbuddho Shikkhak Parishad’ Prof Syed Samsul Alam, UNB reports.

It also said the BCL activists carried out the attack in the presence of proctor Dr Kamruzzaman and convener of ‘Mohan Muktijuddher Chetonay Udbuddho Shikkhak Parishad Prof Dr Akhtarul Islam.

Ten teachers of the university were assaulted by the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in front of the vice-chancellor’s office on August 30.

Later, the university authorities formed a three-member probe committee over the incident.
