Metro rail to run every 8 minutes during peak hours from Saturday

The metro rail will run every eight minutes instead of 10 minutes from Saturday during the peak hours to tackle the pressure of passengers.

“Now the metro rail runs 152 times on the Uttara-Motijheel route. With the new initiative, movement frequency will increase by 26 times. The new schedule will come into effect from Saturday,” Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director MAN Siddique said at a press conference on Thursday.

Regarding the updated timings, Siddique explained that three trains will depart from Uttara at 7:10 am to 7:30 am, respectively, starting from Saturday. These will be considered special off-peak hours. Subsequently, during peak hours from 7:31 am to 11:48 am. Following this, during off-peak hours from 11:49 am to 3:12 pm, trains will maintain their previous frequency of every 12 minutes. From 3:13 pm to 8:00 pm, trains will again run every 8 minutes during peak hours.
