Will Jacks struck a blistering hundred while Moeen Ali showcased a brilliant all-round performance as Comilla Victorians registered a massive 73-run win over Chattogram Challengers during the opening Chattogram phase match of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League on Tuesday.
Jacks struck an unbeaten 108 off 53 balls with five fours and 10 sixes while Liton Das (60 off 31 balls) and Moeen (53 off 24 balls not out) also hit blazing fifties as Comilla posted a colossal total of 239-3 in their 20 overs - the joint-highest total in the BPL history.
Chattogram, were very much in the game until their openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim (41) and Josh Brown (36) were at the crease but their quick dismissal after an 80-run opening stand triggered a batting collapse in the Chattogram innings.

It was Comilla’s fourth successive win in the tournament and they retained the second spot in the points table with 12 points from eight games.
Meanwhile, Chattogram have now lost three matches in their last four outings and they remained in third place with 10 points from nine games.
Earlier on the day, Comilla openers Liton and Jacks gave their side a rollicking start by putting up 86 runs in just 7.5 overs after Chattogram sent them to bat first.
Chattogram fought back well after pacer Shohidul Islam removed Liton and Comilla’s last match centurion Tawhid Hridoy (0) in successive deliveries while Shykat Ali got the wicket of Brooke Guest (10) a few overs later.
However, the dismissals did not affect the Englishman's batting as the opener, who was dropped on zero by Chattogram wicketkeeper Tom Bruce, hammered the opposition bowlers at all parts of the ground.
Moeen, who joined Comilla on Monday, took no time to make an impact as he hit boundaries on a regular basis and also shared an unbroken stand of 128 runs with Jacks to give Comilla a gigantic total on board.
Chattogram pacer Al-Amin Hossain had a forgetful day as he leaked 69 runs in his four overs – the worst bowling performance in the BPL history.
Chattogram, in reply, started well but the dismissal of Tanzid to Mustafizur Rahman (2-46) brought a batting collapse in their innings. Chattogram lost their last five wickets for just nine runs to get bowled out with 21 balls to spare. Shykat made 11-ball 36 with five sixes but it came in for no use for Chattogram.
Jacks had a superb day on the field as well as he took five catches as a ground fielder – the highest for any fielder in the BPL history.
