AL to finalise candidates for reserved women’s seats in parliament tomorrow

The Parliamentary Nomination Board of the ruling Awami League will hold a meeting tomorrow to finalise the candidates for the reserved women's seats in the 12th Parliament.
The meeting will begin at Ganabhaban at 12:00 pm with Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in the chair, reads a press release signed by AL Office Secretary Biplob Barua.
The interview of the aspirants will take place at Ganabhaban, the official residence of the prime minister, on 14 February, according to a separate press release of the party.
There are 50 reserved seats for women in the National Parliament, allocated in a manner where each political party receives one reserved seat for every six general seats won.
According to the provision, AL is expected to secure 48 seats based on its own and its independents' support.
The sale of application forms for the reserved seats began on 6 February at the party's Bangabandhu Avenue central office.
AL sold 1,549 nomination forms for its 48 reserved women's seats, generating an income of Tk 7.74 crore.
