‘Unpurush’ to be staged at Mahila Samity today

Noborosh Dance and Theatre Troupe’s new play “Unpurush” will be staged at Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Bangladesh Mahila Samity in the capital this evening.
Written by Apu Mehedi and directed by Syeda Shamsi Ara Sayeka, “Unpurush” is the story of a man of self-determination. Crushed by the rules of our so-called society, his uncertain life continues on a critical path.
About the play, playwright Apu Mehedi said, “A human’s identity cannot be determined only gender identity obtained by birth. Our society has defined certain barriers to human social identity. Beyond these, people have self-determination. “Unpurush” will tell the story of those people who are insecure about their identity.”
“Such kind of story has not been done much before on the stage of Bangladesh. The story is the main strengths of this production. I hope the audience will like the play.”
Kashif Alfee Ahmed, Wazid, Noor E Khuda Masuk Siddque, Syeda Shamsi Ara Sayeka, Nusrat Jahan Bonya, Sadika Maliha Sokh and others will be seen acting the play.
The set and light of the play are designed by Shaiful Islam, while AB Siddique planned the music of the play. Wahida Mollick Jolly is the costume adviser.
Noborosh dance and theatre troupe was established in 2018. The group is starting its theatrical journey with “Unpurush”.
