Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) under the ICT Division is set to host a job fair aimed at providing employment opportunities for persons with disabilities.
The fair, organized in collaboration with the Centre for Services and Information on Disability (CSID), will take place on 10 February, at the NGO Affairs Bureau office in Agargaon in the capital.
The event, inaugurated by State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, will gather computer-trained individuals with disabilities, with approximately 500 applicants already registered.
The fair anticipates offering jobs to around 50 individuals, while over 200 candidates will be shortlisted for subsequent interviews, paving the way for phased employment opportunities.
Golam Rabbani, the Coordinator of Job Fair 2024 and Manager (Systems) of BCC, highlighted the council's longstanding commitment to providing free ICT training to persons with disabilities since 2011. Since the inception of job fairs in 2015, more than 900 individuals have secured employment in ICT-related fields, underscoring the success of this initiative.
The fair will witness participation from various ICT-based institutions and organisations, including the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), showcasing the industry's commitment to inclusivity and diversity in the workforce.
