Rangpur Riders will be looking to end their Sylhet phase campaign of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League on a high note when they take on hosts Sylhet Strikers in their sixth match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.

Rangpur, who won only one out of their first three matches which also included their defeat to Khulna in their first Sylhet phase game, bounced back strongly in the next two games as they beat Durdanto Dhaka and Comilla Victorians respectively.

Ahead of the match, Rangpur completed their training session at the SICS’s Outer Stadium on Friday and their batsman Fazle Mahmud, who spoke to the media after the session, expressed his confidence in carrying the winning momentum.

“We want to finish the Sylhet phase with a win. The team is in good momentum. If we can win the last game (in Sylhet), the Dhaka phase will be easier for us,” Fazle said after their practice.

Meanwhile, Rangpur’s opponents Sylhet have just opened their account in the ongoing tournament after they beat Dhaka by 15 runs in their last game on Friday which also ended their five-match winless streak in the competition.

“It was a relief and there were disappointments as well. We had a good chance to win the first three games. But unfortunately, it didn’t happen. We wanted a victory today and I’m happy to win the match,” Sylhet skipper Mohammad Mithun, who played a brilliant innings of 59 off 46 balls, said after Friday’s match.

Meanwhile, in the day’s first game, table-toppers Khulna Tigers will face Tamim Iqbal’s Fortune Barishal at the same venue.
