Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder took a rapid visit to Kushtia on Wednesday to inspect auto rice mills and rice warehouses against the backdrop of the unusual spike in rice prices in the local market.

During the visit, the district administration sealed off M/S Subarna Auto Flower Mills for hoarding wheat and flour. Additionally, the local administration also sealed off a warehouse after finding evidence of illegal paddy storage.

The food minister inspected many auto rice mills and warehouses including Desh Agro Auto Rice Mills, Suborna Auto Rice Mills, Allahar Dan Auto Rice Mills, Swarna Auto Rice Mills and Rashid Auto Rice Mills.

While interacting with the local traders, Sadhan Chandra said that he is inspecting the market situation and whether anyone engages in the illegal practice of hoarding food products to create an artificial crisis in the market.

The visit is a part of the government's ongoing drive against the hoarders, said the food minister.
