Fortune Barishal ended their three-match losing streak after they crushed Sylhet Strikers by 49 runs during their fifth Bangladesh Premier League match in Sylhet on Tuesday.

Barishal batters set up the victory for their side as opener Ahmed Shehzad smashed 66 off 41 balls while Mahmudullah made a late blitz of unbeaten 51 off 24 balls to help their side post an emphatic 186-5 in 20 overs after they were sent into bat first.

Barishal, who were 134-5 after 17 overs, accelerated their run rate in the last three overs as they took 52 runs which included 21 and 17 off Richard Ngarava’s overs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained not out on 15 off six balls. Sylhet’s Benny Howell took 3-21 in his four overs.

Sylhet, in reply, were left struggling at 52-3 before Zakir Hasan (46) and Howell (24) put up a 58-run stand to bring their side back in the contest.

However, both the batters departed in successive deliveries and it ended Sylhet’s all hopes as they were bowled out for 137 runs in 17.3 overs to suffer their fifth consecutive defeat in the tournament.

Mohammad Imran finished with 4-29 for Barishal.
