Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji congratulated Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on her assumption of office as the Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh.

In a message, Zhao Leji said that China and Bangladesh are neighbours with a long history of friendship. In recent years, the two countries have conducted frequent high-level exchanges, constantly enhanced political mutual trust, and yielded fruitful results in Belt and Road cooperation.

Zhao expressed his interest in working with his Bangladeshi counterpart to enhance cooperation between China's National People's Congress and Bangladesh's Parliament, aiming to elevate the strategic partnership to new heights.
