The Election Commission (EC) has announced that election to Mymensingh City Corporation and by-polls to Cumilla City Corporation will be held on 9 March.

EC Secretary Md Jahangir Alam announced the election schedule at a press conference at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Apart from these two elections, the schedule for 231 other polls, including municipality elections, was also announced. These elections will also be held on 9 March as well.

Jahangir said the last date for submission of nomination papers for the polls is 13 February, while scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on 15 February. The nomination withdrawal date has been fixed on 22 February and symbols will be distributed on 23 February.

He also said electronic voting machines (EVMs) would be used in the city corporation, municipality, and zila parishad elections.
