Comilla Victorians clinched their first win in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League after they beat Fortune Barishal in a nail-biting thriller by four wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

Chasing a target of 162, Comilla needed 11 runs from the last four deliveries of their innings after Imrul Kayes set the base with a 52-run knock, alongside Jaker Ali Anik’s 23 runs.

West Indian all-rounder Matthew Forde then hit Khaled Ahmed for a six and four to bring the equation down to one from two, and a single in the final ball led to Comilla to a thrilling win.

Earlier, after being put in to bat first, Mushfiqur Rahim picked up his second consecutive fifty as he scored 62 off 44 deliveries, an innings that took him past 3,000 runs in BPL.

His innings, alongside Soumya Sarkar’s 42, allowed Barishal to post 161-9.

Mustafizur Rahman picked up three wickets for Comilla, while Forde and Roston Chase picked up two each.
