DJFB President Hamid, Secretary Muhib

Hamid-uz-Zaman, staff reporter for Daily Jugantar, has been elected president of Development Journalists Forum of Bangladesh (DJFB) and Dainik Samakal senior reporter Abu Hena Muhib has been elected general secretary.
The election took place during the organization's biennial conference held at the NEC conference room in Sher-E-Bangla Nagar in the capital, with a total of 49 votes cast.
The event, graced by former Minister of State for Planning Dr Shamsul Alam as the chief guest, saw Saiful Alam, former president of the National Press Club and Jugantar's editor, serving as the Chief Election Commissioner. Shafiqul Alam, AFP Dhaka Bureau Chief, and Abul Kashem, Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) General Secretary, acted as commissioners, ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.
Hamid-uz-Zaman secured 28 votes, emerging as the President for the DJFB Election 2024-25, defeating his closest competitor, Financial Express Special Correspondent FHM Humayun Kabir, who received 21 votes. Abu Hena Muhib clinched the General Secretary position with 27 votes, surpassing Dhaka Post senior reporter Shaid Ripon, who secured 22 votes.
In the vice-president category, Shahanuare Shaid Shahin of Morning Herald secured 25 votes, while Masum Billah of Share Biz received 24 votes.
Several positions, including Mofizul Sadiq, joint secretary, MR Mashfe, organizational secretary, Jahangir Alam, finance secretary, Altaf Hossain, office secretary, Meenakshi Chowdhury, publicity and research secretary, along with members Jagaran Chakma, Zahidul Islam and Mohammad Zakaria, were elected unopposed.
