Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, has been granted bail in four cases in connection with the clash with the police at the BNP General Assembly on October 28.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain granted bail in these cases on a surety of Tk 10,000 on Thursday.

Besides, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tahmina Haque granted bail to Amir Khasru in two more cases on Wednesday. Through this, he got bail in six cases out of the total 10 cases against him.

The bail hearing was supposed to be held on Thursday in the remaining two cases of Paltan Police Station and two of Ramana Police Station. However, since the original documents of these cases are in the court of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge, the bail hearing of these cases was not possible. Therefore, the court has set the date for the bail hearing of the remaining four cases on Sunday.

His lawyer Syed Zainul Abedin Mesbah said that there is no obstacle to the release of Amir Khasru if he gets bail in these four cases. He said, "There were a total of 10 cases against Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury. We have granted bail in six cases. The bail hearing for the remaining four cases is scheduled to take place on Sunday. If he gets bail in these cases, there is no obstacle to his release."

Meanwhile, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court Assistant Public Prosecutor Hemayet Uddin Khan Hiran said that among the four cases in which the bail hearing is scheduled to be held on Sunday, there is a case of attack on the Chief Justice's residence. BNP's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was not granted bail in this case. As a result, I hope Amir Khasru will not get bail. We will oppose bail from the state.

Earlier on Wednesday (January 17) he was scheduled for arrest and bail hearing in the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofajzel Hossain in eight separate cases of Ramna and Paltan Model Police Stations. As Amir Khasru did not appear in the court on that day, the court postponed the hearing to Thursday.

On January 14, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim Chowdhury's court fixed January 17 for the bail hearing in eight cases of Amir Khasru.

The court fixed this day in view of the arrest and bail application of Syed Zainul Abedin Mejbah, the lawyer of the accused side.

It is known that a total of 10 cases were filed against Amir Khasru in the October 28 incident. Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police arrested him from his house on Gulshan 81 Road at around 1:15am on 2 November.

After that, Amir Khasru was produced in court on November 3 after being arrested in the police constable murder case. The court granted his six-day remand in this case. After the remand, the court ordered him to be sent to prison on 10 November.

After that, in another case of sabotage of Paltan police station, on December 14, the investigating officer of the case and sub-inspector of Paltan model police station, Sumit Kumar Saha, filed a 10-day remand application along with showing the arrest. On December 18, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury's court rejected the remand and ordered to get  interrogation in jailgate .
