Mosharraf Karim is one of the most popular actors of the country. With his excellent acting skills, the versatile artiste has not only established himself in the showbiz arena but also carved a permanent place in the minds of the audience. The actor, who made his silver screen debut in Tollywood with the Bratya Basu-directed film “Dictionary” in 2021, will be seen another Tollywood film title “Hubba” with the same director.

The film, based on Hooghly’s dominant gangster, Hubba Shyamal, will be released in theatres in Kolkata and Bangladesh on 19 January.

Bangladeshi production house Jaaz Multimedia has taken on the responsibility of presenting “Hubba” in the country.

Mosharraf Karim talks about his second Tollywood film and more in a recent conversation with the Daily Sun.

We will see our own Mosharraf Karim in an imported film ‘Hubba’. How do you feel about this?

I feel very good. I see the matter differently. The audience of our country will see me for the first time in an imported film. I’m also a little bit excited. At the same time, I’m very hopeful that the audience will enjoy the movie very much. Because, the content, director, making quality and producer, all are great. The rest is up to the audience. I believe they will not be disappointed.

How did you get involved in the project?

I have always been a fan of Bratya Basu dada’s works. I have also been observing his work for a long time. Earlier, I worked under his direction in the movie “Dictionary”. While working in the film I came to know that Bratya dada also likes my acting. That’s why he casted me in his project. During the shooting of “Dictionary”, he told me that he will make a movie about Hubba Shyamal and he wants me to play the title role in the film. Then, we met several times for the discussion about the movie. Even he came to Bangladesh to meet with me. Finally, I have played the role of “Hubba”.

Could you share something about the film?

The film ‘Hubba’ is not a biopic, it is a fiction. It has been made based on the life of Hubba Shyamal, the top terrorist of Hooghly, West Bengal. Popularly known as Dawood Ibrahim in Hooghly, Hubba became a gangster in the late 1990s. The film depicts the brutality of Hubba Shyamal. The film also contains some humorous things. Actually, there are a number of layers in the story of the movie. I think, I’ve done a good project. Those who do not watch the film ‘Hubba’ will actually miss a lot.

Did you face any challenge while acting in the movie?

I didn’t face any challenge while working in the film. But, I had to study a lot for my role in the project. As an artiste, I always want to work with newer things. So, I don’t think of any of my work as a challenge for me. I love my work very much. Actually, I have no hesitation in working on any project if the script is good.

Do you think your performance in ‘Hubba’ will satisfy the audience?

In fact, I never say about my work that it will fulfill the expectations of the audience. I watched the movie during the Dubbing. I’m very happy about the project. My director, producer and others related to the film are also happy with my acting in ‘Hubba’. If the audiences are happy after watching the film, then I can say we have done a good job.

What do you want to say to your audience?

I have received your love in all small and big projects in my acting career.

The audience is everything to me. Whenever I do something, I do it keeping in mind the responsibility towards the audience. After all, I’m a human. It is not always possible to work on a good project. I will be happy and inspired if you go to the cinema to watch our film.
