‘Ansar, VDP members’ role in 12th JS polls commendable’

During every national event, such as general and local government elections, the members of Bangladesh Ansar and the Village Defense Party (VDP) consistently play a crucial role alongside other law enforcement agencies and the public administration across the country.
The Dhaka district Ansar and VDP have earned commendation for executing their assigned duties, assisting members of other law enforcement agencies and civil administration effectively and earning the trust of the people during the recently held national election.
While visiting different areas of the Dhaka district during the 12th national election on January 7, it was observed that the paramilitary force was actively present at all polling centers, ensuring foolproof security.
They also transported the voting equipment, including ballot boxes, papers, and other election materials, to the polling booths. Additionally, they assisted in maintaining order among the voters at the polling stations.
Besides, Ansar and VDP members have garnered praise from general people in helping elderly, sick and disabled voters to cast their votes as a part of their citizen rights.
Ansar members were working tirelessly on the polls day from dawn to dusk across the Dhaka district as well as across the country. They also assisted voters in coming to their respective polling centers to exercise their franchise.
While talking to the Daily Sun, Dhaka District Commandant Md Alamgir Sikder said that there were a total of 3,047 polling centers in Dhaka district.
Of which, 2,146 centers were in the Dhaka metropolitan area and 901 were outside of the metropolitan area, he said.
There were 12 Ansar and VDP members including PC and APC performing their duties in every polling station during the election.
“A total of 36,564 Ansar and VDP members successfully performed their duties during the election. Also, the Battalion Ansar's smart team performed duty as the striking force under the Returning Officer and the Assistant Returning Officers till 10 January,” he added.
District Commandant Md Alamgir Sikder also said, "To execute the directives of Director General (DG) AKM Aminul Haque, we have provided training to each member. They have been commended for successfully carrying out their duties, also instructed for assisting other law enforcement agencies and cooperating with the people."
