China congratulates Bangladesh for the successful holding of the 12th National Parliamentary Election as planned, and felicitates the Awami League for winning the election, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning on Monday.

“As an amicable and close neighbour of Bangladesh, China firmly supports Bangladesh in implementing the political agendas in accordance with its law after the election,” she said replying to a question during a regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing held on Tuesday.

“China is prepared to work with the new government of Bangladesh to carry forward the long-established friendship”, she said emphasizing the advancement of the Belt and Road cooperation and achieving greater progress in the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation.

During the briefing, she also emphasized China's foreign policy principles: mutual respect, equal footing, mutual benefit, and non-interference in other countries' internal affairs.
