Hasanul Haq Inu loses JS Polls race

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) President Hasanul Haque Inu has been defeated by independent candidate Kamrul Arefin in Kushtia-2 constituency.

Kamarul Arefin got 98,896 votes with ‘truck’ symbol in the seat. His nearest rival Hasanul Haq Inu got 79,79,735 votes.

Independent candidates have won three out of four parliamentary seats in Kushtia. One candidate saw victory.

Rezaul Haque Chowdhury, an independent candidate with the ‘truck’ symbol, won the Kushtia-1 constituency. He bagged 86,539 votes. His nearest rival Nazmul Huda Patal, another independent candidate with ‘eagle’ symbol, got 51,567 votes.

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif won the election from Kushtia-3 constituency. He received 1,28,533 votes. His nearest rival, Parvez Anwar Tanu, an independent candidate, got 43,726 votes.

Former lawmaker Abdur Rauf has won the Kushtia-4 (Kumarkhali-Khoksa) constituency. He received 98,000 votes. His nearest rival, an incumbent MP Selim Altaf George, received 80,111 votes with the ‘boat’ symbol.

There are a total of 16,43,912 voters in the four constituencies of Kushtia.

The voting was held in 299 seats across the country from 8:00am to 4:00pm today (7 January).
