Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei celebrated National Expatriates Day 2023

The Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam celebrated National Expatriates Day 2023 at its premises in Kampong Tanah Jambu on Saturday.
The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from The Holy Al-Quran, followed by reading the message from the Bangladesh president, Prime Minister and relevant ministers by the High Commissioner and other officials at the High Commission, said a press release here on Saturday.
In her welcome speech, the High Commissioner appreciated the contribution of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman for opening the windows of overseas employment for Bangladeshis just after the independence.
Now almost 15 Million Bangladeshi people are staying in more than 170 countries of the world.
The High Commissioner mentioned that the Bangladeshi migrants are playing a vital role to maintain the growth of the national economy and to implement various development projects in Bangladesh.
Along with this, the exchange of knowledge, skills, expertise and technologies is contributing to strengthening the socio-economic condition of Bangladesh.
Therefore, she expressed her gratitude to the Bangladesh government for recognizing the contribution of Bangladeshi expatriates by declaring the national expatriates’ day which is being celebrated for the first time.
The ceremony was then followed by a screening of a documentary for national expatriates’ day and a presentation on “Smart Bangladesh: the vision of the country”.
Lastly, the Bangladesh High Commission proudly honored 24 eminent personalities consisting of 21 Bangladeshi Nationals to recognize their contributions and efforts who are working in various sectors in Brunei Darussalam including higher studies, health, business, cultures, etc.
The government officials from Brunei, members of the Diplomatic Corps and the Bangladesh Community were present there.
