Shahid Ullah Khandaker lauds PM's role for democratic elections

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has proven that a free and fair election can be held under the democratic government, said a former bureaucrat.

“Domestic conspirators and their foreign supporters had challenged that the national parliament elections will not be held under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The quarter made baseless demand of the caretaker government. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has faced that challenge beautifully,” said Former Housing Secretary Shahid Ullah Khandaker on Tuesday.

The former secretary, who is designated as development programme coordinator for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's electoral area (Gopalganj-3 constituency), addressed a electoral rally on behalf of the Awami League nominated candidate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Bandhabari JBP High School in Kotalipara of Gopalganj.

AL Bandhabari union unit organised the event.

Shahid Ullah Khandaker said the Awami League has a stronghold in the constituency covering Kotalipara-Tungipara upazilas.

“People extended their massive support to the symbol of boat. The people of these two upazilas will vote for their beloved leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the national parliament election on January 7 and win with huge votes,” he said.

AL Gopalganj district unit president Mahabub Ali Khan, Prime Minister's private secretary-2 Gazi Hafizur Rahman Liku, MP Syeda Rubina Akhtar Meera, AL Kotalipara upazila unit president Bhabendra Nath Biswas, general secretary Aynal Hossain Sheikh were present at the meeting with Bandhabari union unit president Liaquat Hossain Mia.

Local unit vice-president Mujibur Rahman Howladar, joint general secretaries HM Ahidul Islam, Md Kamal Hossain Sheikh, Aminuzzaman Khan Milan and organising secretary Matiar Rahman Hazra also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, Shahid Ullah Khandaker exchanged views with the party leaders and workers at the office of Kotalipara upazila Awami League.
