The Election Commission (EC) has decided to brief the diplomats stationed in Dhaka about its preparations to hold the 12th national parliamentary election, scheduled to be held on 7 January.
For this, the EC has asked the foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen to invite the heads of embassies and foreign missions in Dhaka to attend the briefing scheduled to be held on 4 January.
The meeting will be held at 3:00 pm at the Padma Hall Room of Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel in the capital, according to a letter sent by Shariful Alam, Director for Public Relations at EC Secretariat.
According to him, the EC will brief the heads of international organisations, and the resident representative of UNDP in Bangladesh on its measures taken to hold the 12th national parliamentary polls in a free and fair manner on the day.
The letter also requested Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen to take the required steps to invite the diplomats so that they attend the meeting.
This is the first such initiative taken by the Election Commission headed by Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal.
