After ending a pessimistic campaign in AFC Cup 2023-24, Bashundhara Kings got some relief as they defended their Independence Cup title beating Mohammedan Sporting Club by 2-1 goals in the final of 2023 edition at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj on Monday.

After the day’s feat in the season's curtain raiser, Kings will be boosted with full confidence for their upcoming campaigns on the domestic and international stages featuring Federation Cup, Premier League and  AFC Challenge Cup. 

Mohammedan’s Nigerian forward Sunday Chukwuemeka Emmanuel struck first in the 49th minute, but Kings forward Rakib Hossain equalized the margin in the 51st minute and Brazilian forward Dorielton Nascimento netted the match winner in the 86th minute.
