Sheikh Hasina means democracy, development: ERDFB

Bangladesh is on the peak of development under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over the last fifteen years, according to the Education, Research and Development Forum of Bangladesh (ERDFB).

“Bangladesh became champion in corruption during the regime of BNP-Jamaat alliance. The country has been on development journey under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over last 15 years. Sheikh Hasina has led the development and democracy of the country,” ERDFB President Prof Sazzad Hossain told a meeting on Friday.

ERDFB, a platform of academicians to boost research on education sector, organised the discussion meeting on development and education, at Jatiya Press Club in the capital.

In his speech, Prof Sazzad mentioned that Bangladesh experienced unprecedented development over last one decade which was a dream for all government since 53 years of independence.

“Bangladesh is now a role model in the world in socio-economic development as a result of the dedicated efforts and hard work of Sheikh Hasina with support of people in the country,” he said.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, believes in democracy, means fair, impartial and peaceful elections, claimed the academician.

“A fair, impartial and peaceful election mean the development and progress of of the country. And Sheikh Hasina is confidant on fair elections. Development, democracy and Sheikh Hasina are same rhythm,” added Dr Sazzad.

National University vice-chancellor Mashiur Rahman was the chief guest while Dhaka University Prof Shahadat Hossain Siddiquee was keynote speaker at the seminar with Dr Sazzad Hossain in chair.

Islamic Arabic University vice-chanchelor Prof Mohammad Abdur Rashid, Bangladesh Open University vice-chancellor Prof Mahbuba Nasreen and Prof Mohammad Abu Yusuf of Dhaka University were special guests on the occasion.

In his speech, Dr Mashiur Rahman said that the transition from agriculture-based Bangladesh to industrial-based Bangladesh has been made possible by our own sweat and labor and not by anyone else's mercy.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking the democratic Bangladesh forward on the path of development and prosperity with the support and assistance of the people, ignoring all domestic and foreign conspiracies,” he said.

Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) pro vice-chancellor Prof Abdul Jabbar Khan made address of welcome while Barishal University acting vice chancellor Prof Badruzzaman Bhuiyan moderated the session.
