Professor Sadeka Halim has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of Jagannath University (JnU).

A gazette notification was issued by the Ministry of Education in this regard on Thursday. 

President Mohammed Shahabuddin made the appointment for the next four years.

Currently serving as the chairperson of the Department of Sociology at Dhaka University, Professor Halim is the 6th and the first female vice-chancellor of the university.

The post of vice chancellor left vacant as former VC Dr Imdadul Haque died of cancer all of a sudden on 11 November.
