Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) on Wednesday announced a 23-member squad of the women’s national football team for their upcoming two FIFA tier-1 friendly matches against Singapore.

The matches will be held on December 1 and 4 at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.

The women’s booters, who clinched the SAFF Championship 2022 title last year in Nepal, will end this year with these two matches.

The booters resumed their action this year with a two-match home series against Nepal in July after BFF's decision of withdrawal from the 2024 Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in April.

The hosts lost the series to the Himalayan nation by 2-4 goals in a series deciding tie-breaker after their matches ended at 1-1 and goalless draws.

They took part in the recently completed Asian Games 2023 where they lost to Japan by 8-0, Vietnam 1-6 and played out 1-1 draw with Nepal in the four-team Group D matches held in September  in China.

The team were expected to tour Lebanon to play a two-match series with the hosts in October, but the tour was abandoned.

However, goalkeeper Sathi Biswas and forward Krishna Rani Sarkar were dropped from the Asian Games squad due to injuries while goalkeeper Shopna Akter Jili and defender Kohati Kisku got the maiden call for these matches.

“We have had good preparation for Lebanon, but those matches didn't take place. It will help us for Singapore matches,” said women’s head coach Saiful Bari Titu in a press conference at BFF house here on Wednesday.

BFF women’s wing chief Mahfuza Akter Kiron, captain Sabina Khatun and vice-captain Maria Manda were also present there.
