Today (27 November 2023) is the 98th Birthday of Shahid Prof. Munier Chowdhury. On this occasion like every year renowned theatre troupe ‘Theatre’ has announced the awardees’ names for Munier Chowdhury Sammanona and Mohammad Zakaria Smriti Padak for the year 2023. 

This year, Theatre Director and Researcher Kamaluddin Nilu is going to receive Munier Chowdhury Sammanona while young Theatre Director Bakar Bakul is receiving Mohammad Zakaria Smriti Padak. 

The monetary value of the awards is taka fifty thousand and twenty-five thousand respectively. Since 1989 Theatre has been honouring one theatre personality/organisation with ‘Munier Chowdhury Sammanona’ and from 1997 one young theatre activist with ‘Mohammad Zakaria Smriti Padak’ for his/her outstanding contribution to Bangladeshi Theatre arena. The date for the award giving ceremony will be announced later.
