Ansar clinch Bangabandhu 8th President Cup Fencing title

Ansar-VDP lifted the championship trophy in Bangabandhu 8th President Cup Fencing Tournament which ended in Dhaka yesterday. Bangladesh Bank’s former Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman, the Prime Minister’s former Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri, Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), Khurshid Alam, Executive Director (Grade 1) of Bangladesh Bank, Ziaul Hasan, Deputy Director General of Ansar-VDP, Bangladesh Fencing Federation (BFF) President Shoeb Chowdhury, Editor-in-Chief of The Asian Age Dr. Jesmin Chowdhury and BFF General Secretary Selim Omrao Khan are also seen in the photograph among others.
Ansar-VDP clinched the title of Bangabandhu 8th President Cup Fencing Tournament 2023 while Mirpur Fencing Club became the first runners-up and Bengal Sports Academy the second runners-up.
The event ended with a closing ceremony and prize distribution program at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur here on Sunday.
Dr Atiur Rahman, Professor Emeritus of Dhaka University, Bangabandhu Chair and Bangladesh Bank’s former Governor, attended the program as the chief guest.
Dr Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, Commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), Khurshid Alam, Executive Director (Grade 1) of Bangladesh Bank, AKM Shameem Chowdhuri, former Press Secretary to the Prime Minister and Ziaul Hasan, Deputy Director General (Training) of Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) joined the event as special guests.
