Train set on fire in Jamalpur, 3 compartments burnt

Three compartments of the Jamuna Express were burnt as miscreants set fire to the intercity train in Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur in the early hours of Sunday.

The incident took place around 1:20am and two firefighting units rushed to the spot around 1:30am to douse the fire, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.

Meanwhile, Sarishabari railway station master Abdus Salam filed a case with Jamalpur railway police station against unnamed people this morning.

Confirming the matter, Salam said the incident caused damage worth Tk2 crore to the Bangladesh Railway.

Jamalpur railway police station Officer-in-Charge Golzar Hossain said the perpetrators would be brought to book after an investigation.
