Dengue claims 11 lives, infects 956 in 24hrs

The health authorities recorded 11 more deaths from dengue and 956 related cases in the last 24 hours till 8 am on Friday.
With the latest data, this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease reached 1,539 while the caseload mounted to 2,99,050, said a handout of the Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) in a handout this evening.
During the period, 206 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city while 750 were admitted to different hospitals outside the capital, the DGHS daily statement said.
Meanwhile, some 2,92,266 patients were released from hospitals after their complete recoveries.
Bangladesh on Wednesday witnessed 24, the highest single-day dengue death this year.
This year, 1,539 deaths, the highest in a year since dengue was detected in 2000 in Bangladesh, were reported from the disease while 281 died last year.
