The United States believes that the next general elections in Bangladesh should take place in a fair manner.

During a regular State Department briefing on Tuesday spokesperson Matthew Miller made this comment.

Responding to a question, Miller said, “We have consistently said that we believe elections in Bangladesh should be free and fair and open, and they should take place free of violence.”

Responding to an another question, the State Department spokesperson refrained from directly addressing concerns raised during the 'Two Plus Two' dialogue in India about potential instability in Bangladesh affecting the interests of New Delhi and Washington
