Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has directed officials of the corporation to go tough on the owners who are running businesses without a trade licence.
Taposh came up with the instruction while addressing a meeting on revenue collection at Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday.
Fazle Noor Taposh said, “We have to be tough while carrying out a drive to collect revenue. If anyone runs a business without a trade licence, we will seal off the business, regardless of how reputed the companies are or how important their owners are. If we can create some examples like this, the rest of them will follow the order.”
He said, “I am directing the zonal executive officers to be rigid when dealing with the issues. We will allow anyone to continue any business activities without a trade licence.”
Fazle Noor Taposh also asked the officials and staff of the department to be well-mannered and cordial while dealing with service seekers so that they are not harassed by delaying the service.
The DSCC mayor warned the officials, saying that the authorities would not tolerate any corruption or anomalies by the service providers, and wrongdoers must face the music.
The chief revenue officer, the deputy chief revenue officer, zonal executive officers, taxation officers, supervisors, and others concerned with the department attended the program.
