Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan) has urged politicians to seek a lasting solution to the ongoing political crisis through dialogue and leave the path of violence when thinking about the country and its people.
"The politics of Bangladesh are heading towards violence, and as it becomes more pronounced, it will cause huge damage to the country’s economy. Common people will struggle to make their daily living, and the country may move towards an unstable and uncontrolled situation,” said a statement signed by Shujan President M. Hafizuudin Khan and Secretary Badiul Alam Majumder on Sunday.
Shujan, a civil society organisation campaigning for good governance, says it is deeply concerned about the incidents of deaths and injuries over Saturday’s political rallies and clashes and arson attacks in Hartal (the strike) on Sunday and feels that such a situation will not bring anything positive for anyone.
It is also said that sometimes in historical conflict, violence becomes inevitable, but it can never be the mainstay of politics. Politics means reaching a solution through dialogue with each other in the mass sphere.
“Unfortunately, no claim can be made without taking to the streets in Bangladesh, and every time the poll time approaches, the situation gets destabilised,” Shujan said, adding that it requests politicians to sit for a lasting solution instead of repeating the same situation again and again and releasing the people from suffering.
