Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that the BNP is traditionally a terrorist organisation, and the party has chosen further the path of terrorism and arson to rig the upcoming general election of the country.

He said, “Canadian courts have given judgment saying that the BNP is a terrorist organisation and mentioned it on six occasions. Hundreds of people were burned to death in 2013–14. Now, the BNP has again chosen acts of terrorism to rig the upcoming elections.”

Quader made the remarks at a press conference held at the AL President’s Dhanmondi political office in the capital on Sunday.

He said, “The BNP and the Jamaat have adopted terrorist activities again. Because the BNP does not believe in democratic movement, they are destroying the political environment.”

In the press conference, Obaidul Quader also stated that there is no scope to hold dialogue with the BNP as they (the party) has closed that path.

Meanwhile, the Awami League-led 14-party alliance will hold a protest rally on the premises of Awami League’s central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital at 3:00pm on Monday (Oct 30).

Party sources confirmed this development on Sunday evening.
