Dhaka Sarak Paribahan Malik Samity (DSPMS) has announced that they will continue public transport services in the capital Dhaka and its neighbouring areas during the dawn-to-dusk hartal enforced by BNP, Jamaat and some left-leaning political parties.

DSPMS said it in press statement on Saturday evening signed by its General Secretary Khandaker Enayetullah.

In the statement, he also urged others transport owners' association and bus companies to continue operating their buses on all routes across the country.

"It is an anti-people hartal. Bus owners and workers will not participate in the hartal. They will strongly oppose and reject it," he declared.

He said the bus owners and workers have already rejected the hartal and decided to operate bust on different routes in the capital Dhaka and its adjoining areas.

However, the running of buses on long routes will depend upon the availability of the passengers during the hartal, he said.

He also urged the police department to beef up security measures at different strategic points to ensure smooth bus operation.
