Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University (BDU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Muhammad Mahfuzul Islam said it is crucial to keep our own data in our own cloud.
He said, “In order to implementing Smart Bangladesh we need some infrastructure along with human resource development. The first to come is our own cloud.”
He said these while addressing the Cyber Security Knowledge Sharing Session organised by the Felicity IDC and the Fiber at Home at Hotel Westin in the capital this morning (Saturday).
He said most of our private institutions are keeping their data in the cloud of foreign companies. Maybe the cloud of a foreign company is available with cheap rate. But we need to create an infrastructure where we can use our own cloud to keep our own data, he added.
Moinul Haque Siddiqui, chairman of Fiber at Home, presided over the meeting while State Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak for ICT was the chief guest. BTRC chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority managing director GSM Zafrullah also spoke as special guests.
