BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said free, fair and credible election can be held in the county only under an election time non-party, neutral caretaker government.
“Awami League will not allow any election where they will be defeated. Therefore, election under caretaker government is the only way to hold it in free and fair manner,” he said.
The BNP leader came up with the statement while addressing a press briefing at the party central office in Nayapaltan of the capital on Monday.
“In absence of democracy, an inhuman dark age is going on in the country. The country has been plunged into the darkness of fascism by the misrule of one person, one party,” he said.
Rizvi said the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's relationship is now with the democratic world has been ‘cut off’ while she has a mutual love relationship with all the ‘dictators’ of the world.
He alleged that the government has been carrying on repression and oppression on people in a bid to prolong power.
“False cases are being filed against opposition leaders and activists and they are being arrested across the country. She (Prime Minister) has pushed the country into crisis through snatching away people’s rights,” Rizvi said.
He alleged that the government is using law enforcing agency and judiciary to give punishment to the opposition.
