CID conducts training on tech-based criminal investigation for officers

Additional IGP and chief of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Mohammad Ali Mia on Thursday said that there is no substitute for technological know-how to deal with the changing tactics of criminals.
He came up with the remark while addressing the closing ceremony of “Criminal Intelligence Analysis Course” and “Cyber Intelligence & Investigation Course” at the conference room of CID Headquarters in the city.
The top officer of the CID, a specialised unit of Bangladesh Police, awarded certificates and crests among the trainees during the programme chaired by Additional DIG Hasib Aziz.
Mohammad Ali laid utmost importance on science-based investigations and said that if the knowledge gained from the training can be applied in the workplace, it will be possible to bring the criminals under the law and ensure maximum punishment, no matter how many new tactics they adopt.
DIG (HRM & Dhaka Metro) of the CID Md. Mainul Hasan gave a welcome speech on the occasion while Special Superintendent (SP) of Police (Dhaka Metro West & Forensic) AKM Emran Bhuya presented a brief power point presentation on the overall activities, structure, manpower and achievements of the CID.
A total of 22 officers of the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) from various units of Bangladesh Police participated took part in the four-week “Criminal Intelligence Analysis Course”.
Besides, the “Cyber Intelligence & Investigation Course” lasted for 12 working days and 19 officers of the rank of Sub-Inspector (SI), Inspector and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) participated in the course.
The course covers fake Facebook account post, e-mail hider, malware, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, IPTSP number, ISP log and IPDR analysis including IP call snooping, loan apps, online betting and gambling, Online Sharing Platform, mobile-based social engineering etc.
