Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has said the Election Commission (EC) has the right to send letter to the Cabinet Division to withdraw Jamalpur Deputy Commissioner and warn others before declaring polls schedule.
Action will be taken if any biased attitude is seen in the future, he said.
In recent times, in a letter the EC asked the Cabinet Division to warn other deputy commissioners and to withdraw Jamalpur Deputy Commissioner as he commented in a meeting to re-elect Awami League.
Journalists asked CEC whether the EC can issue such a letter ahead of the declaration of the parliamentary polls schedule.
In reply, the CEC said there is no bar to send letter ahead of the schedule.
