A 5.5-magnitude earthquake jolted northwest Myanmar at about 1:58 a.m. local time on Tuesday, the country's Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) announced.
According to the DMH, the epicenter was determined to be about 16 miles (25.7 km) to the north and northwest of Paungbyin town of Sagaing region.
The earthquake was also strongly felt in Homalin town of Sagaing region, a local resident said.
